Gray market?? It has a 5 year USA warranty as promised. Great lense. Must be they are all sold out already. Checked with Ritz Camera and they do not have stock. . It is completely soft. If you do anything with stock photography (where they review photos at 100%) or need to be able to print decent size photos do not buy this lens. Anything shot beyond 200mm is too poor of quality to even print a 4 by 6. I bought a sigma 18-200 after buying this and now never use the nikon lens. Waste of money! Also I saw little scratch on the lens. I was worried, so I took few tests by shooting at a pure white page and shooting in a pure dark room. Luckily those dust does not affect the images (no dust spot on the images). Other aspects of this lens are good.
